Christmas Spirit at the Malabar Post Office

This morning I was at the post office to drop off the rest of the January subscripx, being 5 days before Christmas I came prepared to wait. I even brought 1st class stamps for folks who complain they don’t want to wait in a line to mail one item so they wouldn’t have to wait. I got there at 8:40am, it was open, I was second in line. My job takes about 20 minutes. It’s repetitious work keying in the same info for dozens of zip codes. Vicki, Stan and I have been doing this for 10+ years, since whenever they changed the rules so they had to begin making a lot of keystrokes for each single item — hazardous, liquid, etc. So I’m chatting with Stan at the counter while he does my job (which he’s done 100+ times) and the line begins forming all the way to the door. That’s ok, it’s only 8:45am, they’re not officially open until 9am. Then a 30-something woman, 2nd in line behind me, begins loudly admonishing us for chatting. She looks kinda like Sarah Silverman (an attractive insult comedian) so I first thought she was joking. “It’s a proven fact that chatting in line slows the line down. I hate when it happens in Wal-Mart too. I always say something when it’s not right. I’m a customer relations trainer so I know what’s right and what’s not.”    Continue reading

How can I make him take responsibility??

Had a session last night on a Universal topic: a mom wants to figure out how to give her kids Christmas when dad is out of the picture and doesn’t pay support. I could advise her to get an attorney and I could give her tips on earning extra income but my experience is the quickest way out of a situation is to see the truth of it and understand the mechanics behind it. Then recognize what role you play in attracting that, then change your perception of your role. Once you do that, you’ll instantly find more alignment in the people, circumstances and events around you.  Mom’s situation was that her 2 kids’ dad left them years ago, left her with the kids and all the bills and no job. She finally got the court to order child support which he never paid. He works under the table for cash and spends it on “drink and drugs and nonsense.” She can’t even get him on the phone long enough to demand he take responsibility.  But she’s got the greater responsibility, the responsibility to control how she sees a situation and how she reacts to it. She’s got the ability to attract a good experience in life despite who does or doesn’t take responsibility in their own.   Continue reading

How I make No Heartburn Coffee

I seldom drink coffee. It gives me heartburn.  At least it USED TO give me heartburn until I learned the fix. The fix for heartburn relief for coffee? Yep, the fix for me, anyway.  When I worked in law offices in my 20’s and 30’s, I drank up to 7-8 cups of coffee a day. When I went to work for myself and had to be the one to make coffee, I stopped drinking it. I didn’t miss it. It was no longer part of my daily routine. I went a couple of years without it. Then one day I woke up craving it. I had a cup and it gave me heartburn. Bad heartburn. I figured I could no longer drink it.    Continue reading

I get kicked out of a Doreen Virtue hate group on FB

I joined a FB Doreen Virtue Group and after reading some posts, I asked for clarification, “So this group is about wanting refunds for Doreen Virtue products and discussing dissatisfaction about it? Good luck to you all. When you go within and ask your angels, what guidance do you receive?”

I was asking an honest question because when there is a group of people who talk about following their guidance, I’m interested in how they use that in specific situations — like whatever they are unhappy about.  I got instantly attacked. The group admin wrote, “You sent me a friend request and my angels told me your reason was to spy on people who were seeking justice against DV’s corrupt ways.”

Corrupt ways? I asked to join because a Facebook friend mentioned there was controversy and I wondered how group members were using their guidance to work through it. That’s one reason I publish Florida’s Mind Body Spirit magazine the last 20+ years, because those things are of interest to me. I know that one person telling how they work something out can help someone else with the same issue work their own stuff out. Now I see that it was a boycott group. My mistake for not reading enough of the comments to see that before commenting. From their description of the group, I thought it might be a fit for me but it was simply a place I did not belong.

AFTERMATH: I did a post Nov. 6th giving the disgruntled buyer/admin’s version of the Doreen Virtue timeline and she messaged me a copyright violation notice. The notice was not relevant to this matter since It was not a copyright violation, but I took it down 2 hours after posting since I saw she wanted a battle.  Nov. 10, four days later, she emailed trying to engage me but I’m done. That’s how these types work. They troll media folks trying to stir up controversy so they can get noticed by a wider audience.

When you name call, you lose your argument

Lisa Braun Dubbels writes and I agree: “I wholeheartedly disagree with almost everything this administration does and says, but I am really committed to not using dehumanizing language in discussing any of it. It’s easy to default to namecalling and it’s more important now than ever that we don’t. It lowers your discourse and your vibration in the world. It loses an argument for you before you even begin. We have to move conversation into a less destructive space. It’s exhausting.”

I’m always interested in someone else’s opinion on something that is important to them, but you NEVER have to name call someone else in comparison. Talking about what an asshole someone is isn’t adding anything productive and it’s taking precious time from the actual issues. Already there are so many mocking and shaming memes that everyone is tired of them, few read anything on the topic at all because of it. Stick to the issues. Better yet, if you’re that ticked, get off the topic altogether, spend time with loved ones in nature. That’ll fix a lot of what ails you.

The Death Experience like a day on Facebook?

You know how you come online to do one thing, then look up and realize you’ve just played on Facebook for 4 hours? Or you dash into the mall for a red jacket and come out after nightfall having bought everything but?  That’s because no matter what you thought you set out to do, as you became IN THE MOMENT with where you were, your attention was directed to another thing, and then another until it became a free flow of moving from one place and situation to the next and you lost time with the flow of it all.

That’s what the DEATH experience is like also. You close your eyes here and open them elsewhere. Wherever you find yourself, there will be something catching your attention, then something else, then something else. There is no dark hole of nothingness where you’re wondering WTF? You will be met by loved ones who have passed before. You will be comforted by familiar surroundings.
