I meditate to connect to inner guidance

Yes, you can meditate to calm and center yourself without attracting a host of guardian angels or whatever popping into your head unwanted.  But for me, the giant reason to meditate is to plug in to my own inner guidance, tap into my Soul so to speak.  When I sit, I first set my intention to relax, release resistance, become receptive to whatever guidance will be helpful for me, and connect. Speaking with a friend last night, I suggested that meditation might help her with her dilemma. She countered that she didn’t think it was possible to meditate yourself out of a situation, otherwise no one would have died in concentration camps, and people around the world wouldn’t be starving.  I told her I wasn’t suggesting she could meditate her way out of trouble. I told her meditation is simply a daily practice to relax and release resistant thought a couple of times a day. Meditation doesn’t replace action, it doesn’t replace anything. Concentration camps and starving communities take a lot of mass consciousness pre-paving to get to that crisis point; it doesn’t happen overnight.  And you don’t meditate anything away.

If you meditate regularly, you’re more likely to have organized thoughts.
When you have organized thoughts, you’re more likely to have less uncertainty.
When you have less uncertainty, you have less fear.
When you have less fear, you have more trust.
When you have more trust, you’ll be directed to true guidance.
When you’re connected to true guidance, you feel empowered.
When you feel empowered, you empower others.

And a community of empowered individuals does not get led to concentration camps and they will find a way to feed themselves.  And it all begins with paying attention to where you are, and to where you want to end up.

Honoring our Veterans today

My dad returned from WWII a little shell shocked. Many did. He managed his physical pain with 60-80 Tylenol-4 a day, the emotional pain with alcohol. I can’t imagine the pain he was in. We didn’t make it easy for him. We certainly didn’t give him the respect he deserved. He loved long walks but back and hip problems kept him from them. He shot himself at age 62. In a coma in his final weeks. I’d call and the night nurse would tell me, “he’s marching.” I hope he was enjoying his long walks again. Today, I’m honoring all who served. They gave more than we’ll ever know.

On infidelity and “cheating”

This won’t be popular but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true. We humans are so funny. God permits all things to happen. Trying to control behavior, we make up rules contrary to human nature then say THIS is what God wants. Like this: “God will never send you someone else’s husband.” Sure He will, it happens all the time. God doesn’t care about the pieces of paper we think are so important. He’s about intent and vibrational matching. God wants for us what we want for ourselves. Whatever we begin, he’ll fuel as long as we stay focused. He fuels wherever we focus.

I breathe a sigh of relief, he’s in custody again

Finally the temps have dropped and it’s cooler in the early mornings. Something about the crisp cool air makes me want to get moving and be outside in it. I used to spend a lot more time in my yard, walking the trails, sitting at the firepit. Then I let myself get derailed for a few years when a troubled friend began showing up uninvited. A former neighbor, he knew my habit of meandering in my woods at all hours. He doesn’t recognize boundaries, so he’d walk right in. Then he moved a mile away and I’d see him walking Emerson Road 3 blocks over, looking wasted. Each time, I’d stay inside for a few days after, just in case. It became habit to stop hanging in the yard, not knowing when he’d show up or was even there, unseen. Whenever I went outside I’d wonder if he was lurking like the old days. I got used to living back inside the house and missed the joy of being outside at all hours. A self imposed exile since I couldn’t get it out of my thoughts. Continue reading

Andrea’s experiences with hurricanes and tropical storms

When they say a storm is 500 miles wide and 185 mph, that doesn’t mean the entire storm is moving 185 mph. Example:
Hurricane Irma in Sept 2017, the eye was 60 miles in diameter. A FEW MILES OUTSIDE of that is where the 185 mph winds are. NOT all 500 miles.  Hurricane Irma downgraded below a Cat 1 as she crossed land — as they do — here in Melbourne/Palm Bay we got 60 mph winds and 90 mph gusts. Florida is only 160 miles wide so we all got high winds for the maybe 12 hours it took her to pass.
I’ve lived in Florida all my life and I’ve been through several hurricanes and tropical storms. It’s easy to get caught up in the news hype about approaching storms, so I like to have a reminder here on my blog of the notable storms I most recently recall. My worst experience: Continue reading

Don’t Fuel It, Cool It with Jamie Coulston

Jamie Coulston

Feel free to share. I love it when a handsome man gets me OUT of bed! I came across Jamie Coulson‘s comment about anxiety and depression and found his FB group Don’t Fuel It, Cool It, about managing post traumatic stress. He’s allowing me to reprint from his writing, here is a preview. And if you’re interested in helping friends manage anxiety, check out his group. “I’m not a therapist,” he says, but he’s helped me already.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/857631804381403/

I found where the yellow jackets moved their nest

Watering the yard this morning, I stepped into the east garden. A chair that hadn’t been used since the hot steamy summer came on sat under the pine, its seat covered in pine needles. I moved the chair and was immediately charged by the yellow jacket nest underneath it that I disturbed. I ran up the path brushing them off my dress and shaking my head to get them out of my hair. I felt several bites: side, hand, under arm (wtf??) and fingers. I could feel them tangled in my hair. I ran across the driveway and pulled my dress off before I came in the door.  I didn’t want to bring them inside. Thankfully the roommate was on a walk as I dashed in the door and jumped in the shower. I got one final bite from one that came in on my hair, which is how I identified it as a yellow jacket.  I’ve learned 2 Benadryl will stop any reaction for me.

Now to research Wasp Medicine and see what the message is for me. I like Morningstar’s interpretation at https://morningstar.netfirms.com/waspmedicine.html

Astral Projection Handbook

Astral projection is simply mental/spiritual travel out of the body to any place on the astral plane; the realm of dreams and spirits etc. It’s as easy as daydreaming, but full transfer of consciousness to the point where the experience is more real than normal waking reality takes practice. Below and at this link I give the process step by step. Here in pdf format http://horizonsmagazine.com/mags_online/Astral-Projection-Handbook.pdf — below is the text

Wikipedia:
Astral projection (or astral travel) is a type of out-of-body experience that assumes the existence of an “astral body” separate from the physical body and capable of traveling outside it. Astral projection is experienced as being “out of the body.”  Astral projection, or astral travel, denotes the astral body or etheric double leaving the physical body to travel in the astral plane. The astral body is a body of light intermediate between, and uniting, the rational soul and the physical body. Individuals that are trained in the use of the astral vehicle can separate their consciousness in the astral vehicle from the physical body at will.
