How Predictive Astrology Helps Me

The calls have been very active the last two months, many asking about the major astrology going on this summer. You’ve heard of Mercury retrograde, but we’ve also had Venus and Pluto retrogrades. The Pluto square Uranus in Aries is ending and we’re coming out of eclipse full moon in Aries. I have sun, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and my rising sign in Aries, so I was surprised to be relatively unaffected. I seldom read my transits (astrology predictions) ahead of time. If something challenging seems to be lingering, that’s when I take a look for astrological insight. For this article, I took a look at my chart and read, “You are in for an extended period of time when the basic structure of your life is subject to some inevitable and far-reaching changes. You may have to surrender material things. You need to let go of the past, and it may be quite difficult to let go.” Well, that didn’t sound so good, but I’ve learned nothing is as scary as it sounds.   Continue reading

A New Moon Solar Eclipse will occur Sunday, Sept 13, 2015 at 2:41am EDT

eclipseA New Moon Solar Eclipse will occur in the sign of Virgo early into the day on Sunday, September 13th. Its effects can be felt up to six months after the actual date of the eclipse. In the sign of Virgo, work and health matters will be a major focus on a personal level. This eclipse is about new beginnings regarding work, attention to details, fitness, health regimes, and daily routines. This is a time when we should build our powers of healthy, constructive discrimination; learn to be more pro-active; start a new health and fitness routine; set up specific routines that will help us manage our lives in positive, mindful ways; and learn the “power of now” and of mindfulness. This is a time when we can learn to master the “little” details of our day-to-day lives in a more organized manner so that we can free our minds of clutter. For some of us, circumstances are such that we need to pay more attention to our work and health routines.   Continue reading

The Full Moon through the Houses

Full Moon in 1st House For a day or so you may find things get fairly wacky in your surroundings, and one of the causes may be you. The time is right (and the pressure is on) to bring critical projects to a conclusion, put on finishing touches, and show the world just what you’re all about. The emphasis is not so much on what you’ve done, but rather who you are, and it’s the right time to let your personality out of the box and shine, shine, shine. The whole set of circumstances may have you a little giddy, but that’s part of the surrounding picture at Full Moon, and this is your time to take a ride on that energy and put your personal mark on what comes of it.    Continue reading

The New Moon through the Houses

New Moon in 1st House This New Moon marks a time of personal beginnings, when you find yourself shot into the limelight and all eyes turn toward you to see what you’re going to do next. This may be somewhat startling, as it’s rather different than what last month brought, and you will need to step up and display your self-confidence in a way that wasn’t called on before. In a volatile situation you will need to have your wits about you as you will have a particularly high profile. The trick is to handle it with grace and not let it go to your head, as this too shall pass and you’ll want to look back on a performance that maximized the opportunities dropped into your lap.    Continue reading

uranus transitting ariesIn Medical Astrology. A sign-by-sign breakdown of the Pluto-Uranus square effect

This Good Friday’s astrological aspects are the Sun Trine Jupiter and Uranus Square Pluto.  Sun trine Jupiter brings luck and expansion. This is generally a good time to schedule new beginnings in business, education, personal relationships, marriage, creative projects. Maybe it doesn’t feel like a good time to you.  Life for many people has been riddled with curveballs. The rug has been unceremoniously pulled out from under you.  Not much has come easily. In order to pass “Go,” you’ve had to face your own shadow nature and take a hero’s journey. Rash moves and thoughtless actions have met harsh consequences. This no time to live an unexamined life.

Things are happening…even when they aren’t. Trust the “invisible realm.”

Since Pluto rules the underworld, things might be happening that aren’t apparent in tangible form yet. You may feel like you’re spinning your wheels when you aren’t. You’re just allowing a situation to undergo its due process. With impatient Uranus jumping the gun, it’s hard to remember that progress can also take time. Divine timing is where it’s at now. Time plays tricks on us—being the greatest test of our ability to stick to our beliefs or convictions.  Even with the harshest of planetary events, there’s always a greater lesson or opportunity. Here are a few suggestions for how you can navigate this:   Continue reading

Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius Jan 21-Feb 11, 2015

retrograde meansMercury goes retrograde January 21 – February 11, 2015 in Aquarius.  To learn how this will affect you, look to the area of your horoscope where Aquarius falls and expect to undergo some revision in that department for the next several weeks.  In general, this is a time for all of us to rethink our long-term goals, as in your 5-10-20-year plans. Aquarius rules the bigger wishes and dreams, plus the tribe and social networks that take us there. All of this is up for review now. If you don’t like where your life is heading, take time to reassess under this retrograde.  On the fun side, old friends and tribe members could suddenly reappear in your life after a long absence. If they do, they’re probably returning to help you redefine your future mission statement. This is also a time when we’re reflecting upon where we belong in the greater whole. If we don’t feel like we’ve found “our people” as in kindred souls with similar values and goals, this is a chance to really reflect on what’s out of alignment or what we need to do to find our crew.   Continue reading

2016 Mercury Retrograde Dates – what does it mean?

retrograde-meansJanuary 5 – 24, 2016 in Aquarius
When Mercury goes retrograde, that’s the time to slow down to notice changes you’d like to make, but you’ll wait to correct them after Mercury has gone direct.  During the retrograde, your time is best spent looking back in review – not looking forward. Astrologers say do not apply for a loan during this time, or interview for a new job.  Do not take a first date seriously. Do not begin a new partnership.  Hold off on romance.  Mates from the past may reappear, or perhaps just past relationship baggage will cloud your thought processes – and the new relationship.  Retrograde isn’t the time to break up or otherwise decide on a new direction in relationships. If you have to have “the talk,” hold off until Mercury goes direct.   Even if things have taken a turn for the worst, when Mercury goes direct, you could pick up where you left off.  That can be the good news and the bad news. Either way, it gives you the chance to make a clean break and smooth over the messy outburst neither of you intended 3 weeks ago. A retrograde is not the time to set a date or finalize any important plans, as they’ll likely end up needing redoing.  If you enter into contracts, make sure you read the fine print. This will save you much time and money later.

Working up to full moon in Taurus on November 7, sun in Scorpio

moon halfFrom tonight on,the moon is waxing all the way to full moon in Taurus on November 7.  The Moon in Taurus wants us to find emotional fulfillment through the simple, tangible things in life, while the Scorpio Sun draws our attention to complexities, intangibles, and mysteries. This is a passionate and creative Full Moon, ripe with possibilities and learning experiences. Intimate relationship matters, such as personal comfort levels and values as well as sexuality, figure prominently now. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time—a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.  We were just outside looking up at it.  This is an enchanting magical neighborhood after nightfall, especially bathed in bright moonlight. I might have gotten a moon burn.
