I just cleaned up the back porch, which I’ve been using as a gardening shed the past year. I let yard tools, work boots and overalls turn it into the mud room — until now. I moved the black wrought iron table and 3 chairs to the east side near the chimenea. I moved the rocker and one chair to the west side and made a reading nook for myself and a place for the tabletop charcoal grill. There’s a great breeze and now that I’ve been clearing my woods on either side the house, I have a new view of them. Now that I’ve reclaimed the back porch as living space, it might be time for new porch furniture. A love seat maybe, something to nap on. My uncle built this home for me 30 years ago, and it never gets old living here.

How I process fresh loquats without sugar
There are tons of loquats on the trees right now. I’ve processed 3 gallons already and that was just from the bottom branches! I wash them, cut the stem off, score in half to remove the seeds and then store them in a gallon freezer bag. I spread them out on a baking tray so they freeze in one layer. That makes it easy to break off a chunk for a smoothie when ya want.
I prune my mulberry tree and it blossoms!
Last night I emergency pruned the mulberry tree. When the tree cutters cut it back radically in January, it shocked the north half of the tree. The south half was heavy with new branches, blossoms and fruit. The north half appears dead. I wanted to lighten her load while she recovers. the next day, a raccoon family helped themselves to the mulberries on the branches I cut! I hadn’t moved them from under the tree, so it was all piled up like a buffet for them. I snuck out front and cut 2 gallons of ripe loquats and tossed them onto the trail they would head back on. My gift to them! Four days later, the entire tree blossomed into blossoms and fruit.
A dream about feeling stranded and no one can help
A deep sleep and a dream about trying to get home but no one has a phone I can use and mine has been taken, along with my clothes. I have a long white button down shirt to mid thigh and my wallet which is stuffed with dollars. It began when I went to tip the woman who cleaned my hotel room and another housekeeper pointed her out to me and handed me two twenty dollar bills to give her. I gave them to her then went to find the one who gave me the bills to pay her back and she was nowhere to be found. Then the trek began. I was somewhere with a river to the left of me and one to the right so I figure it was Merritt Island.

Friday the 13th, Luck and Daydreaming

Make it a lucky day
Did you know daydreaming is effective creative visualization? Daydreaming, fantasizing, pretending. Pretending is important: “pre” from “ahead of time, before” and “tend” for “intend”. So when you are fantasizing and pretending, you are intending in advance what you’d like your future experience to be. You are vibrating in resonance with it and attracting it to you. Oh Andrea, are you singing that old tune again? “Expectation and belief determine your future experience.“ Yeah, yeah, yawn, tell me something I don’t know… Well, if you know it, why aren’t you acting like it? If you expect dollars to flow, are you talking about the possibilities of that with friends? Or are you talking about everyone who’s out of work and how bad the economy is? If you really know that your expectation and belief determine your future experience, is there any reason not to spend quality time daydreaming about that? Continue reading

I’m wondering who reads this that is not a Facebook friend…
Journal your feelings to resolve issues when the other is not there
When you have unresolved emotional issues with loved ones you can’t discuss it with, you can still find resolution. Whether you aren’t speaking because they won’t, or maybe their whereabouts are unknown or they’ve passed, you can still find peace. When you journal your feelings, you come to a deeper understand than if you were just thinking or speaking about the situation. When you journal, the process of putting it into words helps your brain organize the info so you can figure out what’s wrong and why it bothers you. When you understand it, that is when the issue begins resolving. Even if you never talk to that person again. Writing down what you think the problem is, and how the problem makes you feel, is an important first step.

It’s ok to surrender but never stop exploring
I created it for the fun of it and was rewarded with dollars
Some say I’m a lousy business person because, except for a few months a decade ago, in 23 years no one sells ads for me. The most I make ad calls is never, but a few times a year I’ll create an ad out of the blue on a whim. I woke up this morning thinking of a particular business who has never advertised with me, ever. I checked out their website. It related to an article I’ll publish next month, so I created an ad for them just for the fun of it. I emailed it with a note and within hours, they purchased my last minute full page ad space. An hour later, a former advertiser emailed me for a copy of her paid 2014 invoice. When I sent it to her, I included a note and a new little ad I created. She booked the ad for six months! In the afternoon, a galpal asked for a copy of her unpaid invoice, which I’d forgotten was outstanding. She not only paid, she wants an ad for the April Horizons. My intent and attitude all week has been, “I wonder what exciting new person might call for an ad,” and “I wonder from what unexpected source today’s dollars will come?” I do that on purpose when I am up on my publishing deadline and have ad space to fill. I take stock of what space I have available and translate that into a dollar amount, then I set my intention to bring in that amount by deadline. On these deadline days, I make a point to ask myself several times an hour, “I wonder what exciting new person might call for an ad,” and “I wonder from what unexpected source today’s dollars will come?” I ponder for a few moments the last time unexpected dollars came to me, and how cool it feels when new advertisers find me. I bask in the good feeling of the memory for a few moments and remind myself I can feel that again, I can have that feeling again of new people and dollars flowing. Then I go back to working on what is fun to do. I’ve learned that when I create something just for the fun of it, I’m rewarded with dollars whether I “work” for them or not.
When the crickets stop, you know something is afoot
Meandering outside in my newly cleared woods, I realize that since I cleared away the dried leaves and underbrush, I have fewer signals as to where the forest creatures are walking. It’s especially weird when all the crickets stop at once and you know someone has just entered the space, but no clue who or where. And I see after the clearing, I have to lessen the sensitivity on the motion detectors now or be bathed in spotlight for the neighborhood’s entertainment.
