I’ve been painting angel heart rocks

On July 24, 2017, I began painting rocks. It began as an easy creative outlet and it’s turning into a mission.  On Facebook I saw the colorful rocks with messages people were creating, finding and leaving and I thought, “How cool, create something uplifting for a stranger to find and be inspired by.”  I liked the idea of painting hopeful messages on rocks and I began to think about what kind of message would really be meaningful to me if I were to happen upon it written upon a rock.  Then I started thinking about what images comforted me when I looked at them and the image of the cartoon angel holding the heart out came to mind. That’s always been a favorite image. I tried sketching the few prototypes and settled on a few I kind of liked. But it was when I began painting them that change began taking place. At first I was painting each one, one at a time, trying to get the mechanics of it into my muscle memory. Creativity doesn’t always flow spontaneously for me. I’ve learned sometimes I have to prime the pump.  When I began the painting and the different color combinations, my mind relaxed its hold and the brush took on a life of its own. There is more to this story that i’ll write about as soon as I get a chance. Painting is an excellent focused, moving meditation. It puts me into an excellent headspace to listen to my intuition and receive inner guidance. In 2014 I did a series of paintings as a form of shamanic soul retrieval and wrote about it here.

When I can’t find the USB icon on my Samsung Galaxy S5

Periodically I move pics from my phone to my computer.  The USB icon doesn’t always appear asking if I want to charge or move files.  What works is swap out to a new cable or do the Developer Options below.  Then don ‘t do it on my phone, go to my desktop and access the phone from there.

Connect phone and computer
Open the cover at the bottom of your phone.
Connect the data cable to the socket and to your computer’s USB port.
Select USB connection setting (One does not appear.)

Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
Press Connected as a media device.
Press Media device (MTP) until the function is turned on.

Go to Settings › Storage › again settings (on action bar). There should be “USB Computer connection” option. (THERE IS NOT.)

Tap on it and choose “mtp mode”. That should make your phone visible to your pc.

THAT DIDN’T WORK FOR ME BUT HERE IS WHAT DID WORK   Continue reading

An email reading: How do I draw him closer?

This is an excerpt from an email reading. A friend writes, “I met a nice guy, we’ve been out 6 times in the last month. He never checks his phone when we’re together, so I know he compartmentalizes his time. He went on a scheduled trip for a family reunion last week and I’ve not heard from him since. I sent a text saying let me know when you get there. What is up with his silences? How do I draw him closer – and how do I work with my own stressors to not project that onto him.”

Andrea responds: It’s just the old ebb and flow, the rubber band effect of the new encounter. Detach for a few days and it will resume. You may not hear from him this weekend so stay mobile. I don’t feel a giant connection with him just yet but he’s not gone. When I “feel” the connection, I’m feeling the emotional attachment. He doesn’t attach easily or well but he’s not being aloof, he’s just slow to make his way because he’s learned the lesson of getting too close too soon. He knows the infatuation period is where much talk and defining can ruin what might become.  When a guy starts to back away, you should do the same. Not as a game of cat and mouse but to restore balance and desire in a relationship by reading the signs that he needs time and space to integrate. Continue reading

Astrology: House meanings

The houses are the 12 pie slices of the astrology wheel. Each house is associated with a set of traits, each has to do with a particular area of life and each is ruled by a different sign. When planets transit or move through a house, they activate the traits of that house.

First House
The first house represents the physical plane of experience that deals with the totality of the individual. It represents the physical body in general and the general constitution. It is a very significant house in that it deals with what others pick up about you; that all important first impression. It represents some of the very early childhood experiences that shaped your self image and your outlook on life. Look at planets in this house and/or it’s cusp ruling planet to get a feel for the individual life approach. The first house corresponds to Aries and so any planets in this house function with some underlying Aries style. Additionally, the first house corresponds to Mars and thus also represents our aggression, motivation, survival modes and self-interest.    Continue reading

Astrology: Planetary aspects as psychological influences

The Aspects to the Sun show psychological influences on our identity which have to be integrated in some way. Aspects indicate specific effects that modify the expression of our identity and make us unique individuals. Aspects can also show quite precisely how we experience the influence of the father, and how that modifies our attempts to become individuals.

The Aspects to the Moon show specific emotional experiences which affect our psychological make-up. These aspects are integrated into our emotional nature to give specific reaction patterns and habits.

Aspects to Mercury show mental talents and communication styles in a very specific way. They indicate our individual interests and abilities

Aspects to Venus indicate specific experiences in love relationships and the individual psychological needs that colour our judgement when making choices.

Aspects to Mars show specific attractions to men, or specific sexual preferences. They show the way we use our energy and special talents for particular kinds of work

Aspects to Jupiter show a psychological identity characteristic where the need for expansion, influence and understanding is paramount. These aspects show the specific personal drives where the search for wisdom is most intense.

Aspects to Saturn show areas of the personality where you will feel a lack of confidence. In these areas you will be shy, repressed, desperate for recognition, frustrated. Normally you will build up self-reliance and independence in the part of your character Saturn affects after around 30 years.

Astrology: Karmic placement of planets in the natal chart

Wherever the Sun is found in the natal chart indicates the area in which we manifest our identity. We will identify very strongly with the issues that this House represents. The Sun represents the father.

Wherever the Moon is found in the natal chart is where we have failed to show enough emotion in previous lives. The Moon represents the Mother. It shows the area in our life which we allocate to increasing our feelings of security, where we are most vulnerable and defensive. Your Tarot Card of the Day JUSTICE

Meditate upon the meaning this card might have for you since it showed up here. Not everyone saw this. Not everyone attracted this message. YOU DID. There are no mistakes.

Introduction: Justice deals with the idea of karma and the law of cause and effect, stating that all events, and all people, are connected. It’s important to remember that not everything you are dealing with, however, is a direct result of your own actions or karma. Sometimes you will be called upon to deal with the results of the actions of someone you care about, and this can sometimes be as difficult and demanding as it is when you’re up against something that is completely of your own making. Don’t blame yourself unnecessarily.

General: This card evokes the need for fairness, balance, and harmony. Operate in as balanced and reasonable a fashion as you can. This includes in how you think about and treat yourself. If you are directly involved with a court case, it is likely to be resolved, at least in large degree, in your favor.     Continue reading
