I gotta laugh at everything I thought I needed to keep up with the Joneses
In 1983, I moved from Miami to Melbourne, FL and met my neighbor Domino. Our homes were built the same year. As a paralegal, I made a point to dress on par with the female attorneys. Domino was a sales associate and wore a uniform. I got in the habit of trading in my car every 3-4 years for a new one. Domino drove an older truck. I’d see him out at happy hour nursing his beer. I’d drink whatever fancy mixed drinks my friends were drinking. Domino paid cash for everything and I had a wallet full of credit cards. Domino cooked at home and I ate most of my meals out. Ten years later, we both became self employed. I began to dress casually but continued to trade my car up every 3-4 years. Domino still drove his same old truck. He grilled out at home, while I continued to eat in restaurants 7-10 times a week. I bought new furniture every few years. Domino’s home was filled with good, usable cast-offs donated by friends. DOMINO PAID HIS HOME OFF LAST YEAR. I got a refinance of my mortgage so I now owe on it exactly what I paid for it 28 years ago. I have to laugh. Who’s living high off the hog now?
Chief Seattle’s Letter to the President
“The President in Washington sends word that he wishes to buy our land. But how can you buy or sell the sky? the land? The idea is strange to us. If we do not own the freshness of the air and the sparkle of the water, how can you buy them? Every part of the earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every meadow, every humming insect. All are holy in the memory and experience of my people. Continue reading
What takes place behind the scenes
I read somewhere years ago that only about 90% of all creation is currently in manifestation, meaning that we only see about 10% of what exists. Kind of like the iceberg that is only 10% above the waterline and 90% below. The 90% is just as real, but we don’t see it, so it’s easy to dismiss it and act as though we don’t know it’s there. That’s all well and good until we knock a hole in our bow because we didn’t want to know about what we couldn’t see. Whatever you see evidence of, there is so much more that takes place, hidden behind the scenes.
Attracting a partner isn’t all about looks
I’ve counseled with a lot of people through the years and I get to hear everyone’s story of why they think they are unable to attract a partner. Most of them think it has to do with their looks and they spend their time focused on that. I know several women who would be considered plain or even unattractive by many people, but they are always dating someone and don’t have a problem getting attention. After getting to know them, I realize the common thread is they are all very confident and interesting to talk to. While most women would be complaining about their looks and their life, they were talking about the lessons they’d learned in life and the exciting plans they have for the future. That makes all the difference in with their ability to hold someone’s interest despite their looks.
Jeckyll and Hyde — Integrating The Personality
There are so many Jeckyll and Hydes out there, it no longer surprises me. I guess maturity and personal growth is all about integrating all facets of our personality: the good, the bad and the ugly. Not always easy to do when the outside world fails to meet our expectations, huh? That’s why they call it daily practice.
Vibing in a vulnerable place
I’m no longer interested in the warnings of experts. The value of any information I receive is more than negated by feelings of vulnerability. When I vibrate on a vulnerable frequency, I’m a match-up to unwanted events. Law of Attraction is ever on duty and never sleeps a wink.

You gotta tell me the rules if you want me to follow them
Apparently I committed a major faux pas today. I saw a lesbian acquaintance at a friend’s place of business. I recognized her from the back and said, “Sandy, hi.” That’s the name I know her by, although she also goes by a nickname which did not immediately come to mind since her giant tattoo was on the side away from me. I haven’t seen her in 15+ years. She ignored me and wouldn’t even turn around when I touched her on the shoulder and said, “hi, it’s Andrea.” She got up and left, saying goodbye to the store owner and not even turning in my direction. I was told she no longer goes by “Sandy” at all. She now only answers to the nickname. She considers herself a man, not a lesbian. Dude, WTF? For the record, I don’t care about your genitalia, nor whether you’re straight or gay, nor what color nor religion nor size and shape nor political party you are. If you reached the age of 30 being known as one name, don’t be shocked when some unknowing someone from the past calls you that name. So what if they don’t know your new name or your new rules. It’s simple courtesy to say, “Hi, please call me “Barry.” ‘Nuff said. Communication is the key.
When do you help others and when do you help yourself?
How often do you think that the ones who give advice would be better off taking it themselves? That’s the dilemma, isn’t it? When we are going through our own personal growth process, our own transformation, ascension, dark night of the soul, illumination, that’s when we begin to seriously seek answers. While we’re still the unformed chunk of coal, we don’t yet understand that the insights that come to us are meant for US — not for anyone around us. Most often, the human mind/ego that likes to think itself separate and apart from others is in charge. To those newly upon the Path, the mind makes you think that you and you alone are going through this, that you and you alone are receiving information and guidance from a higher source, and that you and you alone are the messenger sent to save everyone around you, maybe the world. Isn’t it amazing what can get done when it doesn’t matter who gets the credit?
It’s amazing what can be achieved when it doesn’t matter who gets the credit. Why then do we ever feel slighted when someone doesn’t give us credit for our part? Ah, it’s all grist for the ego mill, isn’t it?
