Today my friend Frank emailed about his mother helping his deadbeat brother out of financial trouble – once again! I wrote back: Ah, I see what it is. Law of attraction at work. Check it out. A great example for the class, also. Mark figures Mom will always bail him out and that’s his sincere belief by virtue of his past history with her, and he attracts that from her (by hook or by crook), so it becomes his experience. Mom knows my friend Frank has some $$ put away (because he’s a bratty blabbermouth) and so Mom has learned to believe through the years that Frank one way or another manages to support himself and be self sufficient. So she doesn’t feel the “need”to help with $$. Her belief has become her reality. Frank knows that Frank is self sufficient and knows to save $$ and he’s responsible and works two+ jobs to make sure he can do what has to be done. His past history shows him he can do it alone, so his belief and expectation has become his reality. His past history tells him Mom will bail Miark out of everything, so that past history has made Frank very intuitive in detecting the subtle signs that Mom continues to do for Mark and not do for Frank. That means, it is hard not to notice when she lets slip in conversation that she paid for yet something else for Mike. The law of attraction at work.
Mom KNOWS that YOU will be ok, she has seen you prove yourself time and time again and has full faith in you. But her experience with Mark leads her to believe he cannot make it on his own. And she doesn’t know that he never will unless she cuts the money cord. No more cash cow! He needs to milk someone else for dollars, so your mom can be proud of him, or learn a marketable trade and do something to be productive. She does not know that she is dis-abling and en-abling him.
There is a series on tv called MySweet 16 and all these spoiled rich girls are manipulating their parents to give them everything and they are snotty and unappreciative of them for it, and have no respect for them. Now there is a show called “Exile” where each show is one of these spoiled rich teenage brats whose parents have HAD IT with their ways. So they send them for one week to live in like a jungle in Thailand with a family who has a girl their own age, and they have to build their own hut using cow dung, and plant corn and haul water a mile or more a few times a day; or for a week in the frozen tundra of Norway to build fences and herd reindeer and sleep in a tent each night after the reindeer run. It makes them grow up quick.
Tell me a little bit about Mark and I will do some prayers. Like what work did he ever do? What is he qualified to do? Is he a graduate of high school or college? Everything you tell me I will never mention to anyone promise, nor even mention to you again if you like. Is he mentally able? Any physical disabilities? Is he confident or insecure? Is he shy and quiet or a snotty know it all? Does he drive, etc?
Law of attraction at work, the whole family dynamic.
