Ah, Fall: Code Enforcement Fine and Permit Season Begins

Ah, Fall!  When the weather turns cool, we Floridians like to grill out on the deck, sit on the screened porch and create outdoor sitting areas. A word of advice to do it yourselfers: Get a permit!  Code Enforcement are ninja and miss nothing.  A friend put up a fence and deck last year and figured since he was in the woods, it couldn’t be seen from the road.   After our  tree cutters left the neighborhood, that area was exposed.  Code Enforcement visited soon after and he’s going through the whole application permit inspection fine process.  He doubts it will pass inspection and he’s ticked because he poured money into it and knows it’s his own fault for cutting corners. If you insist on doing it yourself off the record, make sure it is built to code so it will pass inspection if they ever find you.  My woods look so inviting from the street, I made it easy on them and gave my Code Enforcement officer permission to walk onto my property at any time.   BOLO. They will find you.  Code Enforcement are like ninja!

Even when I think it’s scattered energy, it’s all in divine order

Today was the perfect follow up to attracting yesterday’s scattered energy where I spent an hour being miffed at a pal’s change of plans.  I got over it when I realized that while I waited for her to call, I got my billing done a week early.  Good always outweighs the “bad” when I look for it.  Last evening I lost my WiFi connection and fooled with it an hour before getting it back.  I knew something was up, with me attracting scattered stuff.  So today begins well, I drive into Melbourne to deliver the October Horizons Magazine and call a friend as I leave downtown Melbourne. We speak on the phone until I am almost home, where I realize I had two more stops I didn’t make.  I drive back to Melbourne, but not really bummed since it’s a nice day and it’s still early.  I come back to relax with the rest of the day off when a friend calls and the wordpress blog I set up for her at www.kathryn-flanagan.com is down.  We both get error messages when we try to sign on.  When I try to get into the control panel, it tells me my password is invalid.  What???  Like yesterday, I am once again attracting scattered energy. Mercury Retrograde October 4-24, 2014. Time to reflect, not act

Take the next 3 weeks to reflect rather than initiate something new. Mercury goes retrograde October 4 through October 24.   On November 11, Mercury will be back to where it was when it went retrograde, meaning whatever you leave unfinished this week, you will have the chance to properly complete it after November 11.  I think Mercury Retrograde  gets a bad rap.  Since Mercury rules communication, people say “oh everything’s going wrong, that’s Mercury retrograde for you,” and that’s not the case at all.  Mercury Retrograde just means review, reconsider, return for more info. Pay extra attention to detail.  Check everything twice.  Slow down during this time, to be as effective as you can be. The way to make the most of Mercury retrograde is to not let it have any power over you. Stop keeping track of when it is.  If you can’t do that, then make Mercury retrograde a time for you to be extra careful paying attention to details.  During the retrograde, your time is best spent looking back in review – not looking forward.   Continue reading

October 2014 Masks, Silence, Spiritual Family, Competition

10-14 Adm Crystal Ball chick copyHello and welcome to the October 2014 edition of Horizons Magazine. Halloween! Samhain! Time to don a mask, dress up and celebrate!. Halloween is a socially acceptable time to wear a mask, and the crazier the better. But we all know people who wear masks all the time. Some wear a mask to avoid letting on that anything is triggering their emotional pain. We accuse another of wearing a mask to project the reality away from ourselves and our own mask. And it comes at the cost of knowing who we actually are. Like Dorothy and her friends in the Wizard of Oz, we’re all trying to find a Wizard to make everything ok. Blinded by the yellow brick road, we embark upon the perilous trek to the Emerald City. We get there to have the Wizard put us through exhaustive tests with the promise of receiving our heart’s desire. Like Dorothy and friends, we withstood the trials only to find out in the end that the Wizard was all smoke and mirrors. And in real life, when you see behind their mask, if they are not ready to face who they are and what they do, they will disconnect from you until they grow into their soul. We all wear masks every day: the happy one, the helpful one, the one who cares. Like the day after Halloween, we all have to know when to wear the mask and when to put it down.   Continue reading

We Want To Hear What You Have To Say, Say It Clearly

My friend Armand Della Volpe posted on Facebook: “So many people today are throwing around words and phrases such as spirituality, intention, highest potential, higher self, purpose, attraction, vibration. The list goes on and on. We can form pretty sentences like, “My intention is to raise my vibration to the level of my highest self so I can reach the goal of my highest potential and FINALLY live my purpose and attract an amazing life!” It sounds good, doesn’t it? But what does it mean? Did the person who said this know what he or she was talking about? To me, undefined spiritual lingo is poetry, at best—manipulation and control, at worst.”… Mastin Kipp

I could totally relate. I commented: Armand, as an editor, ghost writer and publisher of 20+ years, I’ve experienced this many times. Often people are so quick to want a thought out of their head that they don’t take time to contemplate and proofread to realize what they wrote does not convey what they mean to convey. In most cases, I kinda know what they mean but they aren’t saying it. I’m having to fill in the blanks.

Sometimes I really want my mommy

My Mom, left and her mom on the right

My Mom, left and her mom on the right

Although I know there is no separation, no “her,” no “me.” No “us,” no “them.” I know it’s just a thin veil of illusion that separates, enough to make me sometimes believe it’s actually there and not just inside my mind. Still, sometimes I really want the illusion that is or was “my mommy.”

An Egosnooze: I appoint myself The One Who Can Fix Everything

I am doing it again! I’m pouty because I gave my power away to my ego once again, and by ego I mean the personality based, lower s self of me, not the large S Soul of me. Yesterday I told a friend I would give them a ride this afternoon then I rearranged about 4 hours worth of appointments up in Melbourne since I would be up there anyway. I called to ask when they thought they would be ready and they said, “Oh, I changed my mind. I do not need a ride today.” Grrr… I know better than to plan a day ahead of time to be awake and driveable after 2pm. My ego gets so stuck on “oh, I’ll be their hero since they have no one else,” so I have only myself to blame.  Continue reading

Life is easy for me now but it was a day by day process that got me here

A friend remarked that I couldn’t understand her situation because life was easy for me. I told her life is easy now for me because I’ve been where she is and years ago began making a series of different choices to get in this better place. I didn’t get happy overnight. I spent a long time contemplating my life, having realizations and making amends. I got happy day by day by dumping old baggage and looking for stuff to be happy about.

Today you can make it easy or you can make it hard
Come clean and see what the Universe rewards you with

Comments are open again on my blog

I love that the bf knows web stuff, he showed me how to get rid of the tons of spam on my blog. I had comments closed for a couple of years because I didn’t want to deal with the spam. I just opened the comments back up, he said it was an easy fix. An easy fix for one can be a giant boon to another!

There is nothing sexier than a full grown man who takes care of his own business and makes no pretenses.
