I was really busy on Tuesday, well into final layout of the April Horizons, with phones ringing like crazy, when I got a call from my friend Maria. “Are you busy? she asked? Hmmm four days after deadline with just 5 days to get the April mag done – am I busy? Aaaugh! Final layout week I usually stay glued to the computer and don’t drive out unless I have to. I schedule myself tightly and, we all know what happens when we do that. So Maria is about a half mile from my office and needs a ride into Melbourne. Well, that’s different. I am always glad to help a friend.
It turned out to be a good thing, since I really needed to take a break but was up to my ears in emails and phone calls, so I didn’t want to chance it. I was at that burned out stage where I thought throwing more effort into it was the answer, rather than stepping away from it. I was considering taking a nap when she called, so I figured I could just drive her in the time I was planning to nap and still be on schedule. It turned out to be just as refreshing and invigorating, plus I got some work done that I would not gotten done otherwise. Synchronistically, the timing couldn’t have been better.
I needed to buy some cases of cat food and PetSmart in Melbourne had them on sale. No way I could drive to Melbourne until next week, I thought. But I had to pass right by it after dropping Maria off, so it was perfect timing. I asked her if there was anywhere else she needed to go on the way home, and she needed to stop by work, and stop by 2 banks, so we did that. It gave me a chance to check voice mail and also make a call to Becky to suss out a document that wasn’t converting properly after Fred changed the name of the document which also changed the .doc extension. Men!
Also, while I waited for Maria while she was in the bank, I got a voice mail on my cell phone that I likely wouldn’t have gotten for several days since I don’t turn the phone on unless I’m in the car. If the phone is not on, my caller id does not record the number of the missed call. As I was checking the voice mail, they called again. If I hadn’t been in the car right then, they would not have gotten me on the cell phone. More synchronicity!
On the way home I stopped at Circle K to buy my $20 Fantasy 5 quick pick tickets and saw my friend Joy in the store and we got to chatting. I didn’t notice until I was halfway home that the cashier had given me 20 Mega Money tickets instead. I can only assume that means the Universe had to distract me to give me a winning ticket. I’m cool wit dat.
So I can never complain when my plans get interrupted. I know it means the Universe has something better in mind for me.
And I love how all my friends line up in the dance with me
