I took the weekend off and watched my bamboo grow

I took the rare weekend off.  Friday night I craved Applebee’s oriental chicken salad and learned they have a yummy off-menu veggie patch pizza on a toasted tortilla, made vegan by omitting the cheese. Their single portions make two full meals.  I took a walk around the yard for the first time in a week, and saw that the bamboo has been going crazy growing in the rain, last week knee high, this week 20 feet tall.  Don’t tell me you can’t hear bamboo grow, it is right outside my bedroom window.

It was a lazy Saturday morning and Fall equinox breakfast was eggs florentine atop a whole wheat muffin, then a drive to Cassadaga to deliver the October Horizons Magazine.  Sunday was a lazy domestic scene.  I made my Asian Spiced Broccoli Salad and parsley lemon hummus with toasted pita points.  A friend played some jazzy, bluesy piano tunes and there was a holiday feel about the day.  I stayed off the new computer for the most part and had a festival of sleep. The world changes when I get enough sleep! I was reviewing in my mind an earlier conversation and realized I mention my sleep and memory habits, and my hot flashes on a regular basis. Surely there is more to each day worth sharing with a friend than that! It made me examine my speech patterns. I’ll be more mindful of it now that I’ve realized it. I liked the weekend so much, I extended it through today. Nothing like a weekend of good company, good food and good sleep to start the week off right.
