Today was the perfect follow up to attracting yesterday’s scattered energy where I spent an hour being miffed at a pal’s change of plans. I got over it when I realized that while I waited for her to call, I got my billing done a week early. Good always outweighs the “bad” when I look for it. Last evening I lost my WiFi connection and fooled with it an hour before getting it back. I knew something was up, with me attracting scattered stuff. So today begins well, I drive into Melbourne to deliver the October Horizons Magazine and call a friend as I leave downtown Melbourne. We speak on the phone until I am almost home, where I realize I had two more stops I didn’t make. I drive back to Melbourne, but not really bummed since it’s a nice day and it’s still early. I come back to relax with the rest of the day off when a friend calls and the wordpress blog I set up for her at www.kathryn-flanagan.com is down. We both get error messages when we try to sign on. When I try to get into the control panel, it tells me my password is invalid. What??? Like yesterday, I am once again attracting scattered energy.
I went into my file to check the login and passwords were correct. I went to GoDaddy to see if the domain was paid current. I didn’t see the domain anywhere on my Godaddy account, which is the only place I buy domain names. I wondered why that was. I reviewed our emails at the time we created Kat’s blog, to remind myself what we’d done.
When I work on anything for a friend or client, I send them a detailed account of what I’m doing on their job. I didn’t see where we transferred the domain name anywhere and it was paid through 2015. Then I found an email from last June when I opened a GoDaddy account in her name, and in the email I was giving her the number to call for technical support, along with her username and password for the account. Score!
I called GoDaddy and after checking it out, they said it looked like a hosting issue. Since my brother and I host our domains ourselves, I put in a job ticket with the server, telling them we got an error message and “invalid login” when we try to sign in. None of my other domain names on the same server were down. Thirty minutes later I get a response saying they could sign on fine. I checked and so could I.
So what was the real purpose of me spending an hour reconstructing an entire chain of events only to find out there’s no problem? Maybe it was just the server resetting itself or … who knows? I can drive myself crazy trying to figure it out or I can just be mindful so I don’t attract wacky stuff.
Oh, more pre-Mercury retrograde treats! Wait, I can’t really blame it on that since this week I have 7 squares and 3 oppositions going on. I bought two packages of green beans and when I went to cook them, found half of them were mushy. Ugh, into the compost pile. And one more snafu: Paypal takes 3 business days to transfer money into my account from my bank. A week ago I needed to pay my server. I’d gotten a late notice although I’d never gotten the original invoice. I wanted to pay it right away but didn’t have enough in the account. Boyfriend to the rescue! He Paypalled me a loan and I made the payment on the spot, agreeing to pay him back when my bank transfer comes though. But an advertiser Paypalled me a payment a few hours later, so I refunded his loan. I thought. He asked me today, a week later, if the transfer went through. Mortified, I checked and indeed did not make the refund as I thought, so did it right away. I was embarrassed he had to ask me, as I was patting myself on the back for paying him back within hours of the loan. Or so I thought.
Hmmm both incidents today concern the server… I’ll have to contemplate what that might mean. Maybe that we are not always served in return by those whom we serve.
