What do you read in the image to the left?  Some people will read evil, but many will see the good first. Interesting, huh? I didn’t see the evil until it was pointed out to me. The more I looked at it, the more often I saw the evil first. I thought how like Life that is. We go around all happy until the evil is pointed out to us, thanks to the news, etc.  After that, it’s hard to not see the evil first, when that’s all they talk about. Sometimes in this image and in Life it’s hard to see past the evil even though I know the good is there.  We are programmed by the media to look for the evil, since that’s the most provocative news. For me, it takes daily practice at looking for the good to see it despite appearances.

In my everyday life, I don’t use the word “evil.” I believe all things exist in this world, the good and the bad. I believe I will attract whichever I give the most attention to. I don’t “fear” the bad/evil, I just know that the good far exceeds it. I know that because it has been my experience.  I posted the above image on Facebook and got the following responses:

I didn’t see evil at all til I read it was there.
Once the evil has been pointed out it is a struggle to unsee it.
Didn’t even see evil until reading comments.
I see good where’s the evil I do not see evil nor do I want to.
Truthfully, I never even noticed the word evil until I read what it said under the photo…

It took me 30 seconds to see evil – wouldn’t have even seen it if you hadn’t given me the clue to look for it. Crazy!

For me, the bottom line is, we can’t help that we grew up being programmed by mainstream media to notice the “bad.”  It’s commendable that most of the readers saw the good first. I joked, “How nice that people point out the evil and the bad to us, gosh otherwise we might stay all happy and stuff.” For me, it’s as simple as knowing the good resides in everything, despite appearances, and that I can make a choice to find it with enough focus.
