I Get Another Reminder from the Universe

When I eat the wrong things, the Universe gives me gentle reminders so my body can reboot itself.   The reminders  feel like a 24 hour tummy flu.  No fun, but I’ve come to know what to expect and how to make it easier.  First, I know ahead of time what foods to eat and how much of them. So I can never be surprised when I overdo it.   But what I have learned is that when I eat small portions no less than 8 hours apart, I will have an easier time when my body does its 24 hour tummy flu impression.

I wrote on Facebook yesterday afternoon: I’ve been scarce today cuz Izzy DeBig-giantkitty made me eat chips last night and the Universe decided to purge my system. I love how that works: If I eat the wrong thing, the universe always reminds me. It’s not like I don’t know…  On the upside, I’m lying in my new comfy bed watching the birdbath action in the east garden.  How funny, the a/c says 79 and I’m wearing a flannel nightshirt and socks and under the blanket. My hypothalamic receptors are whacked.

So Sunday night when I got sick, it wasn’t too bad.  Instead of being sick as usual every 15 minutes, it was every 30 minutes.  Progress!  That gave enough time to let the bile and other fluids form in my stomach, so when it came up it was quick and not labored.  I sipped water and Gatorade in between bouts to keep me from dehydrating and to add to the fluid for the next session.  Usually sipping water would make me almost unbearably nauseous but not this time.  More progress!

I had a much easier time of it since I stayed hydrated.  That kept me from feeling weak as a kitten in between bouts.  I did a lot of sweating, so I showered  few times.  OMG the water felt so good to my body.  When I’m having chills, nothing warms me like warm water.  I thanked the toxins as I washed them off my body.  I felt renewed each time I took a shower and it gave my mind a better feeling thought about my body, a thought of how good if can feel.  After each shower, I was able to sleep an hour before getting sick again.  Progress!  It was over within 12 hours instead of 24.  More progress!

So the big lesson I’ve learned is I don’t have to feed my body so much or so often.  I’ve learned if I eat less, that diminishes my chances of getting sick and if I do get sick, it’s far less severe and far shorter duration.  That’s motivation to eat less food less often.  I learned that if it happens again, to stay hydrated and take showers because it makes a difference.  But the big thing is to eat less food less often, so it’s over quickly. Knowledge is power!
