Anonymous Comments. Create a New Identity to Express the Emerging You. Making Mistakes On The Spiritual Path. Integrating Your Personality With Your Soul.

A friend just told me that the Comments feature on this blog was asking him to sign in and give his email address before he could leave a comment.  Until I can get that message off there, you do NOT have to give your info, just post the comment and it will come through.  I think people should be able to comment anonymously, and I also don’t want people to think I am collecting their email addresses for later use.  If they want me to have it, they will give it to me.  If they want to sign up for the Horizons Magazine Newsletter then they will do it.

It used to irk me when I’d receive solicitations from sites that I had given my email address to for another reason.  It felt like an invasion of privacy.  I quickly realized that was just how some people did business and there was no point in me getting torqued about it.  As a publisher, it is the nature of my business to be continually solicited, and mostly by people who want to be promoted for free 🙂 so I’d better get used to it or be aggravated all the time.

HOW TO BE ANONYM0US AT SITES THAT WANT YOU TO SIGN IN
Periodically I’ll ask the Horizons Magazine readers a question and ask them to email me their responses. I want friends to be able to answer honestly without fear of repercussion, so I suggest they simply create a free new email address at hotmail, yahoo or gmail.  Create an entire identity there, an identity for someone who has ideas and likes to leave feedback, if that is what it takes to allow you to express yourself.  Of course don’t take that as license to leave a lot of abusive comments, but if you’re reading this, it’s unlikely you’re that type of person anyway.

Actually, that’s not true.  That’s not true at all.  If you’re reading this, then you’re likely on the spiritual path (even if you don’t call it that) or interested in self improvement to some degree.  There are so many stages to all of this.  As we travel along this Path, we begin encountering obstacles, or at least that is how it looks to us at first.  We quickly learn that we are simply being given opportunities to overcome the very habits and traits and behaviors that we have been asking to change.

Sometimes we don’t so quickly realize what is happening, and we just think that our life started falling apart as soon as we started ‘getting spiritual”.  But if we think about it, we asked for more patience, so the Universe delivered to us lots of opportunities to exercise patience.  Opportunities to give us the chance to respond in a new way so we could stop getting the old result: in this case, feeling impatient and getting aggravated over it.

Or we ask to get along with the disgruntled co-worker and the next day at work she’s a raving bitch.  Another opportunity for you to respond in a new way and extract a new result from her. Or we ask to understand our child, our parents or siblings, and we all get into a big fiasco that tries patience, nerves and mental state.  Another opportunity for you to respond in a new way and extract a new result. Or we ask to be made more truthful and suddenly in our lives are people from the past who we’ve told lies to.  Another opportunity for you to respond in a new way, and stop the past cycle.

Or you could just stay ticked off and go to websites signed on as your new identity and leave a lot of abusive comments 🙂 All along the Path we find ourselves with impulses that we are in the process of releasing.  We may still be tempted to fib as we did in the past, or to be sarcastic or even cruel and hateful at times, and this is just part of reconciling the personality with the soul.

As our attention and energy moves the kundalini up our spine during the awakening process, whether we are doing it consciously or not, it moves through the chakras.  Chakras are centers, see this link, like our personal energy vortexes. They process and regulate the life force, or chi, through our body. When our chakras are balanced, we feel good, we’re stress free, we’re happy, we’re healthy, we feel creative, we’re making money, and everything seems to flow just fine in our life.

When we have issues that we are working on, we can tell which chakra is being impacted by the symptoms we are having – by how our life is showing up to us.  That’s one reason that many on the spiritual path, including “new agers,” are labelled flakey: we are not always able to quickly deal with what’s happening to us and it takes a while for it to integrate, for it to sink in to us.  Along the way, all parts of our personality are going to start coming out for everyone to see.  For some it is a real struggle since they have kept hidden for so long the deeper and perhaps darker side of themselves.

That’s why so many of us may appear neurotic to our more conventional, mainstream friends and family.  We’re not in their movie, we’re not on their hamster wheel, we’re finding our own way.  And maybe in the process of finding our own way, we follow this teacher or that for a time, and we learn there are no bad choices.  There are only choices that teach us the consequences of our actions.  And often the action is simply not making well-informed choices, we simply don’t research enough ahead of time, and we go along with the crowd without individual thought of our own.  Then years later we find we are in a job or relationship or religious cult we are just now opening our eyes to, and wonder how we got there.

We usually just weren’t paying attention to the signposts along the way, pointing us to an easier trail.  The glitz or intrigue or chemistry distracted us from the sign clearly placed before us. Heck, I’ve even stepped over mine.  And, thirty years later, still continue to hehe.  But I’m getting there.

A favorite poem of mine: Onward and Upward by John Charles Earle

I pass the vale; I breast the steep.
I bear the cross; the cross bears me.
Light leads me on to light. I weep
For joy at what I hope to see.
When, scaled at last the arduous height,
For every painful step I trod,
I traverse worlds on worlds of light,
And pierce some deeper depth of God.
