Sunday I worked all day and evening on final layout for the September issue of Horizons Magazine. I didn’t even go over to the rental, so I could stay focused. That’s the only problem with being self employed and being my own boss – since I can do anything I want, I have to discipline myself to stay focused on priorities. A lot of what I do has a deadline or appointment time, so I use those as guidelines. Friends see me off and on Facebook all day and think I goof off all the time. Ok, I do, but I’m also in between phone calls and appointments, or I’m rebooting the main computer or I’m taking a break from a job whose deadline is just days or hours away. I’ve always got days worth of info floating around in my head waiting to be thought upon and pondered when I get free thought time. If I’m typing and reading, part of my head stays open for the pondering list to run in the background. If I’m talking and listening, it’s not. That’s why I can play on Facebook when I won’t make time to chitchat on the phone.
I got a ton of magazine work done Sunday, which definitely makes today go easier. I had a few rental tasks I had to do first thing this morning, like calling Florida Power and Light to make put the electric in my name at the rental, going down to the City of Palm Bay Utilities Dept and putting the water in my name, running across the street to Ace Hardware, going to the post office, dropping by the rental to drop off supplies and take a photo of the power meter. I’ll have Tod tell me where the water meter might be. The temporary utilities were scheduled to be shut off mid week, so this ensures power and water (and work!) won’t be interrupted while I am glued to the computer finishing the magazine.
That’s one thing I always do, rush to get work done so I can rest and relax later. Then I take on more and more projects. Then I complain I’m overwhelmed — you know what that’s like, huh? In reality, I take on so much work because they are projects I enjoy doing and they bring me fulfillment. I schedule so many appointments because I enjoy the interaction and the constant learning. I’m always rescheduling psychic reading sessions when “real life” intervenes, such as last week when I was dealing with a tummy bug then rental home stuff and I had to reschedule 8 clients. Sorry guys, thanks for being understanding. I’ve had many of the same clients for 20+ years and most I only read for a few times a year.
So I figure I’ll rest when I sleep, as long as there is lots of fun stuff going on around me that I want to be involved in. And so far, there always seems to be that. Ma Yoga Shakti says, “wherever you are, make a heaven of it.” And I’m so doing that.
