As I printed out my astrological transits report this morning, I began noticing Chiron, since I’ve been doing some Chiron-specific consultations with a couple of friends. In the natal chart, Chiron is symbolized by the “wounded healer” and points to where we have healing power as the result of our own deep spiritual wounds, and where we may over-compensate. I have Chiron in Capricorn in my 9th house. The 9th house is where we seek the meaning and purpose of Life through: philosophy, religion, higher learning, spirituality, mysticism, inner vision, journeys of the mind, psychic attunement, taking the long view, seeing history and the present from a higher perspective, a sense of humor, observing and connecting widely-divergent ideas and opinions; how we learn about life and its diversity through: study of foreign ideas or foreign cultures or religions, travelling to foreign lands, encounters with foreign people and their differing viewpoints, tolerance of foreign races, cultures, religions, or traditions. Here is how Chiron shows up in my chart:
Chiron In The Ninth House – the House of Mind Expansion. What you learn through your progress through higher education, or through wide ranging travel both in space and within the mind helps you to gain knowledge (of barriers, difficulties, etc, rather than simply from study) which you can use as an advisor to others, perhaps as a teacher. I make a living as both. You can bring out the best in your students. Perfect for a travel agent who sends everyone else on fantastic trips while they are stuck in the office doing the booking, or a publisher or writing teacher who gets everyone else’s books before the public. I’m both a publisher and ghost writer. The 9th house also rules religion. Sometimes this leads to thinking that the fanatic pursuit of some religious doctrine will cure all of one’s inner wounds. I lived off and on through my 20’s and 30’s in monastic religious communities, so it’s my default, go-to thought. This could also manifest as obsessive travel or study. It does.
Chiron in Sagittarius or the Ninth House: Chiron placed in Sagittarius indicates a wounding or break with the traditions or spiritual teachings in youth. These people find that life is one continuing spiritual initiation, and they are often on the edge of spiritual thinking. They are avid students and make excellent teachers. Chiron in the 9th house may indicate some crisis to do with spiritual teaching. A strong belief of one sort or another that must be channeled correctly to give the right balance.
Transiting Chiron right now is at 4 degrees Pisces in 11th house. During this transit, lasting 2 – 8 years, and especially at the beginning of this period of time, you may find your focus on friendships and social groups generally. You may undergo some rather painful realizations leading you to make changes in this area. This is true, I have stepped down from a few things in the past couple of years. You are also in the process of transforming your sense of your own individual creativity, apart from social feedback or group membership. There may some suffering associated with this transformation, as change never comes easily, there may even be old wounds that come up for you at this time. I’ve had a couple of long time friends cut me off after confiding their personal life to me. I know that has to do with their thoughts about what that meant rather than mine. Viewed in its best light, you are in the process of renewing your understanding of what it means to participate in social causes and group activities. At this time also you will be more future-oriented, and able at this time to put greater energy into formulating your goals, especially with regard to social issues. Not surprisingly, I am becoming more interested. Your task is to attempt to make conscious choices, especially in the area of group dynamics, and to become more aware of your true objectives, for yourself, and for society at large. Easier said than done, I’ll remain vigilant.
ASPECT: Transiting Chiron is in semi-square with natal Sun. You will likely go through a process of re-aligning your self-concept during this period of time, possibly as a result of re-examination of old wounds. Early childhood episodes that in some way were damaging to your self-concept may come back to haunt you, and new experiences related to these early episodes may help to them to appear in a new and hopefully better light. If I had any of this, I let it go years ago. The reason for such painful issues re-emerging into consciousness during this period of time is for the purpose of healing these issues, and finally moving beyond them. We’ll see, huh? You may find when you have gone through this process that you feel yourself coming into a broader view of your existence. Changes that bring to light new facets of your self-image will be good for you in the long run, and serve to strengthen your true inner self-confidence, based on a more well-rounded view of your life as a whole.
ASPECT: Transiting Chiron in sesquiquadrate with natal Neptune. This can be a somewhat stressful time for you. The nature of this transit is a dissolver of old structures, for the purpose of making way for some hitherto unseen aspect of yourself to emerge, and you are likely to undergo a transformation of your spiritual values at this time. You may experience a tension between an old and outmoded way of being and a new vision of what could be possible. If you dream wisely at this time, you can make a difference – for yourself, and for others around you as well. I am always willing to let loose another layer of the onion.
If you want to know about Chiron in your own astrological transits report, let me know when you order it and I’ll make sure to include an extra page on it.
