I believe that the totality of all creation comprises the Godhead. I believe we are each a part of God, and not just us humans. I’ve experience that everything has consciousness, and since consciousness exists on a sub-atomic level, to me that means that everything that has physical form has consciousness, whether it expresses it in a way we recognize or not. That means not only the animals and plants and rocks, but also the desk I’m sitting at, the computer on it, the chair I’m in and the smoke wafting from the incense I have burning. It took me many years of reading and hearing about that as a concept before I actually experienced it for myself. I considered it a plausible idea that everything had consciousness, yet didn’t have the actually knowing of it until years later. So if this is a new concept for you, just tuck it away and consider it from time to time and when the time is right, you’ll experience it for yourself and your world will change for the better.
After I experienced that everything had consciousness, I began to realize that everything around me equally deserved my respect and attention. Giving my attention to something is the energy equivalent of loving it and thus empowers and encourages it. I discovered that if I wasn’t limiting how I expected to be communicated with, everything around me could give me information and was continually responding to the information I put out.
As I experienced that revelation on an ongoing basis, I had the further realization that we’re all part of one big family. By that, I don’t mean just every one, but every thing on earth and beyond. I experienced that we’re just one consciousness embodied in various physical shapes, each able to express itself in a particular way, depending on its physical form. Humans speak to each other, animals are more telepathic and exchange images with each other. (I hesitate to say mental images, but since that’s how I receive it, that’s all I know for comparison.) Scientific studies show that plants communicate in movement in response to sound and light. So our physical vehicles determine not only our form of expression, but our capacity to receive communication from physical forms like and unlike ourselves.
As I had the realization that we’re all one big family, I felt a part of Something greater than me, a part of Something that had somehow created me, and it was Something I felt so loved and guided and protected by, so cared for and cradled in the arms of, that the feeling and the knowing and the security stays with me today. The security that, no matter what the outer circumstances, no matter what happens in my life, somehow, at the time it happens, I will be guided to the next step. I will be led to be where I should be and led to do whatever needs to be done. It’s the greatest Self confidence I could ever have wished for.
It’s like when you’re hiking in new terrain and you don’t know what to expect. As you begin the hike, you can’t see very far ahead and your focus is naturally very close to the path. Every so often, however, you reach a summit that gives you the broader view from a higher perspective. These periodic glimpses sustain you on your trek until you reach the next summit.
Trust that you can do this in life as well; just step higher and get objective about your life, step back for the broader perspective, note where you are, look toward something that looks like something you might want to do, and then stay focused and walk steadily toward it. You’ll either make it to where you want to go, or be pleasantly and profoundly diverted on the way there.
And at any moment you can change the course of where you’re going. At any moment, if you stop and sincerely ask within to be guided to your next move in any situation, trust and expect that you will be so guided. The point is, keep moving, accept change, allow transformation to take place, trust that you are being ever guided to more joy and more fulfillment and it will be yours. You just have to keep taking those steps and, to the extent that you accept and allow change, to that extent will the Universe gladly move you forward.
Every pebble on the path, every leaf you brush in passing, whispers its encouragement along your weary journey, if only you had ears to hear them. Every cloud is your brother and every tree your sister, with mother earth beneath your feet and father sky above you ~ how can anyone ever be lost? How can anyone ever not find their way home? Begin to listen for messages on the wind, and it will speak to you firm and clear. Ask earnestly, with a sincere and humble heart and know that you are even now being answered by everything around you.
