There’s the acrylic painting on canvas version and the Photoshopped digital version

In this version, the background and Good Fortune card are Photo-shopped in.

I wrote at –> Update from the art studio <– that I’m having a lot of fun playing with my paintings in Photoshop.  I can try out colors and backgrounds and even make the piece half painting and half digital art if I wish. That opened giant doors in my mind! When I have a new set of possibilities in front of me, I feel expanded and connected to the Universe.  I’m learning it’s fun to begin a painting in acrylic, then take a photo of it, and open the pic in Photoshop. I can draw on it and add to it layer by layer.  To the left, I Photoshopped in the sky, clouds and moon, and the Good Fortune card she is holding.  I made fine details to the eyes on one layer, to the necklaces on another layer. I Googled for an image of brocade fabric and Photoshopped it at 50% opacity as her robe on another layer.  But that’s not what the original painting looks like.

To the right is the acrylic painting as it crystal ball chick 8-2-14 6am on canvaslooks today. I realized that I did not like the gold brocade as her gown, so I would not paint it that way on the canvas. I gave her a soft grecian gown. I realized I liked the blue background much better than my original purple, so I added blue to my background.  I added an owl and he kept getting larger. I realized the Good Fortune card would be tough to paint so small, so I changed it to her holding a disk.  I take it as a communion tray held to her solar plexus, signifying acknowledgement that her power comes from the awareness of her own divinity, the knowing that she IS the eucharist.  Little bits of info like that coming from the inner voice, making each painting a meditation. And who knows what I may turn it into tomorrow? That’s why I take pics of each stage of each painting, so I can watch the transformation and learn from it what I like, what I prefer, what to do, what not to do.  Seeing the pic on the screen gives me a new perspective. Sometimes I mirror image it and I see glaring things I want to change, things I don’t see looking at the painting on canvas.  I love pairing modern technology with old school ways. I love hearing what inner guidance speaks to me as I move back and forth between the paintings and the photos. I love that my mind is open enough to know that my life is filled with wonder and meaning and I live in gratitude of it every moment of every day. Well, okay, most moments.
