Another morning of waking up with a project on my mind! The wind and rains this week finally did in the bamboo and palmetto frond wall I’d woven to line my driveway. I knocked it down yesterday and awoke this morning ready to redo that space. I salvaged the bamboo poles that were still good and took the rest to the street. I’d let the grass and ivy grow over the edges of the driveway, so I took my shovel and edged it all. I got the rake and raked everything off the driveway and into the east yard. Taking down the wall opened a view from the street into the east garden, so I fashioned a quick stand of cut bamboo for privacy. I created a new seating area across from it. It’s an entirety new look.
I’m on a roll. Last week I cleared and organized my garage. It’s an entirely new experience now, driving into the garage and entering the house. I have more to do in there but will wait until I empty the trash bins next week. While it rained, I washed my car. While the car was out of the garage, I decided to create the work station I’d been wanting. I moved some shelves around and added a flat surface about 36 inches square at table height. I moved in a wooden stool and overhead light. There’s enough room to work at it even while the car is in the garage. Made of a 2 x 4 frame and a section of T-111 as a tabletop, it can use a coat of paint but that can wait until a sunny day.
I love waking up motivated to get into my day, especially for projects I’ve been putting off. What may look like procrastination is often simply prepaving. I like to pre-think my plan of action before I take action. Then, everything falls into place easily since it’s all been thought out. What doesn’t go as planned turns out better than I could have planned for. Win/win.
