Irma slowed to a CAT 4 as she crossed Cuba. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Changes from last advisory in red.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The center of Irma is about to make landfall in the lower Florida Keys.\u00a0<\/em><\/span>Maximum <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">sustained winds of 130<\/span>\u00a0moving<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0NNW at 8mph <span style=\"color: #000000;\">(down from 9mph.)<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0The <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">pressure is 929 (up from 928 &#8212; up is good!)<\/span>\u00a0The lower the pressure, the more powerful, the more potential for tossing stuff around. \u00a0\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A wind gust to 89 mph was just reported at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weather.gov\/key\/\">Key West National Weather Service Forecast Office<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">We have a storm surge warning of up to 8 feet<\/span> (will affect us if it comes our way at high tide tonight 11:36pm or high tide Monday morning 12:17pm.)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>All of Florida is going to get hurricane force (74 mph+) winds as it passes your area. Florida homes are built for this.<\/strong><\/span> NHC reports <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">the eye of Irma should move\u00a0over the Lower Florida Keys shortly, and then move near or over the\u00a0west coast of the Florida Peninsula later today through tonight.<\/span> <\/em>\u00a0Irma should then move inland over northern Florida and SW Georgia Monday afternoon. Irma should then\u00a0move inland over the Florida panhandle and southwestern Georgia Monday afternoon.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Hurricane (74mph+) and tropical storm conditions (39mph+) are possible in central and north Florida by Sunday. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles from\u00a0the center. \u00a0Tropical storm force <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">winds extend out up to 220 miles (up from 205 miles<\/span>.)<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"> <strong>&lt;3 Florida is only 160 miles wide so we&#8217;re all going to get at least 74mph winds for the maybe 12 hours it takes her to pass. &lt;3<\/strong> <\/span>No need to freak out if you&#8217;re shuttered up. Lock windows if not, if you can get something to cover the window (dresser, etc.) then do, close interior doors. Put electronics on tables in case you get some water. Remember the storm will slow as she crosses land.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Hurricane conditions (winds of 74mph+) are expected in portions of southern and central Florida and the Florida Keys tonight (Saturday) and Sunday<\/strong>.<\/span> Get inside and stay there, get cozy, keep phones etc. charged up while you&#8217;ve got power.<\/p>\n<p>Our rain can be up to 8-15 inches. It may not even be that and it may not be that high in your area.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Now in the Keys &#8212; 330 miles south of Melbourne &#8212; but only moving NW at 6mph, by the time Irma gets to the Everglades and Naples, \u00a0we in Melbourne\/Palm Bay will begin feeling the hurricane force (74mph+) winds &#8211; it could be as early as 10am<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">So the outlook is positive for our area, we&#8217;re still looking good for an easy passage. Plan to be inside by 10am Sunday, you&#8217;ll be there until Irma passes us Monday afternoon.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Local friends follow\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TomTerryWFTV\/\">WFTV Chief Meteorologist Tom Terry<\/a>, he predicted Matthew going west off our coast a new hours before it did.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Utility workers are on standby to deploy to each area as soon as Irma passes thru. You\u2019ll see the convoys of their vehicles from all other states and they\u2019ll flood into each area and get you restored in short order. Wave to them when you see them on the road, they are our heroes!<\/p>\n<p>This storm can also dissipate at any moment, it happens all the time. STAY HOPEFUL.
