Mercury goes retrograde October 4 through October 24. On November 11, Mercury will be back to where it was when it went retrograde, meaning whatever you leave unfinished this week, you will have the chance to properly complete it after November 11. I think Mercury Retrograde gets a bad rap. Since Mercury rules communication, people say “oh everything’s going wrong, that’s Mercury retrograde for you,” and that’s not the case at all. Mercury Retrograde just means review, reconsider, return for more info. Pay extra attention to detail. Check everything twice. Slow down during this time, to be as effective as you can be. The way to make the most of Mercury retrograde is to not let it have any power over you. Stop keeping track of when it is. If you can’t do that, then make Mercury retrograde a time for you to be extra careful paying attention to details. During the retrograde, your time is best spent looking back in review – not looking forward.

Astrologers say do not apply for a loan during this time, or interview for a new job. Do not take a first date seriously. Do not begin a new partnership. Hold off on romance. Mates from the past may reappear, or perhaps just past relationship baggage will cloud your thought processes – and the new relationship. Retrograde isn’t the time to break up or otherwise decide on a new direction in relationships. If you have to have “the talk,” hold off until Mercury goes direct. Even if things have taken a turn for the worst, when Mercury goes direct, you could pick up where you left off. That can be the good news and the bad news. Either way, it gives you the chance to make a clean break and smooth over the messy outburst neither of you intended 3 weeks ago. A retrograde is not the time to set a date or finalize any important plans, as they’ll likely end up needing redoing. If you enter into contracts, make sure you read the fine print. This will save you much time and money later.

Things will begin to straighten out as Mercury passes the point where it first turned retrograde, and you can pick back up where you left off before it went retrograde. Save the contract signing, the break up or engagement plans until after that, and this is also the time to repair any mis-takes of the retrograde period.

Mercury will be in Scorpio October 4 – 10 and in Libra October 11 – 24. (Scorpio is my 7th house of relationship and Libra is my 6th house of health, work and service.) Here is what Mercury retrograde in Libra and Scorpio can mean:

Mercury Retrograde in Libra
When Mercury goes retrograde in the sign of Libra, there could be troubles in the fronts of law, partnership deals and marriage. As these all have to do with partners or some companionship. You can go in for some artistic pursuits in this period. People are found to dither and waver in their thoughts and actions. Emotions need to be controlled and a mental revamp would be the need of the hour. With regard to health, kidney problem is likely to slip in , hence drink plenty of water and avoid acidic foods at all costs.

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio
With Mercury being retrograde in Scorpio, a general scepticism is likely to run through the crowd. A sort of confusion is likely to prevail as far as secrets are concerned. Some arrogant tendency is also to be expected. People may be difficult to get along with. There would be a general attraction towards the occult sciences like psychic readings and astrology. Sexual interests come to the fore during this period. This is an excellent period for getting in touch with our instincts, motivations, and dark side. Emotional communication is not as valued as more rational approaches in our society, and now is the time to explore our more intimate and emotional natures and how these affect our decision making processes. Increased sensitivity, or emotional “radar” is likely. We should watch that we don’t get into a paranoid frame of mind, or read too much negativity into what others say.

RELATED: Mercury Retrograde thru the signs

<a href="http://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Mercury Retrograde October 4-24, 2014.
