\"expresso<\/a>This is the week I typically have a few days off between the time I send the magazine in to the printer and when I get it back.\u00a0 I spent Monday in a festival of sleep, unplugged from all external input. I need a period of alone time, in the quiet, in the dark, to counter the busy-ness of final layout week.\u00a0 I’ve craved coffee all week and drank decaf with a squirt of lemon each morning.\u00a0 Reminds me of the expresso we’d get in Miami with a twist of lemon in it.\u00a0 I am not a coffee drinker but I dig that combination if I’m going to take it medicinally. Yesterday morning I took a galpal to the eye doctor for her next day visit after cataract removal surgery. It was a breeze with very easy recovery, she said.\u00a0 In her 70’s, she’s a tough old bird and a wise owl of a friend.\u00a0 She knows a lot about alternative remedies. “Take calcium with magnesium and zinc,” she said, “for eye health.”\u00a0 We went to lunch afterward and had giant salads with crispy catfish.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I came home and rearranged my office, removing one desk and two side tables to the shed.\u00a0 I had 2 computers in my office and I dismantled one, now that I have all my programs updated on the new Windows 8 computer. I like a lot of white space, especially my working area. I don’t like clutter.\u00a0 I’m a very efficient worker and have good work habits. Being self employed, it’s an occupational imperative.<\/p>\n

In the evening, we watched The Discovery Channel’s new show Naked and Afraid,<\/a> where one man and one woman attempt to survive together – with no supplies, nothing – 21 days in the Amazon Jungle. My first thought was ugh, giant reptiles and snakes, but it was the misquitoes that starred in that movie.\u00a0 It’s always the little things that get us, isn’t it?\u00a0 We’ve not watched much tv together and my mate is a fun viewing partner. We both like the sound way low and muted for commercials. Those are little things but they are way important. The little things.\u00a0 Yes.<\/p>\n
