I woke up early this Thanksgiving morning, put on my fuzzy moccasins, wrapped myself up in my warm bedspread and sat for meditation out at the firepit area.\u00a0 I tossed in a few oak branches and placed my camping teapot atop the stone overhanging the fire.\u00a0 It was still dark but after awhile I could see several sets of animal eyes peering out from behind the bush.\u00a0 One curious young raccoon began walking right up to me, so I shooed him away.\u00a0 The armadillos walk by blindly, bumping into chairs and boots as they root around in the thickening mulch.\u00a0 The opossums will steer clear and lurk ringside.\u00a0 They are all just out for a morning snack.\u00a0 The woodland critters are free to roam the property, but I have learned to not hand them food.Today I\u2019ll have some roasted root vegetables<\/a>\u00a0 for Thanksgiving.\u00a0 I’ve eaten hearty lunches the past week, so today I’ll eat lightly.\u00a0\u00a0 Today’s job is to finish the mail preparation for the December subscriptions of Horizons Magazine<\/a> and drive my sidekick to work.\u00a0 On the way home, I’ll stop at a couple of friend’s homes and say hello, then I plan on playing in my garden all afternoon and having a sundown marshmallow roast.<\/p>\n
