{"id":6891,"date":"2010-01-07T06:22:20","date_gmt":"2010-01-07T11:22:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/?p=6891"},"modified":"2025-03-06T08:05:41","modified_gmt":"2025-03-06T13:05:41","slug":"meditation-twice-a-day-keeps-the-outside-world-at-bay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/meditation-twice-a-day-keeps-the-outside-world-at-bay\/","title":{"rendered":"Meditation Twice a Day Keeps the Outside World at Bay"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_38886\" style=\"width: 158px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/sitting-yoga-sunrise.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-38886\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38886\" class=\"size-full wp-image-38886\" src=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/sitting-yoga-sunrise.jpg\" alt=\"Sit twice a day \" width=\"148\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-38886\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><center>Sit twice a day<\/center><\/p><\/div>\n<p>At 4:00 each morning and afternoon, I sit for meditation.\u00a0 For me, an hour twice a day keeps the outside world at bay.\u00a0 That doesn&#8217;t mean I deny the existence of the outside, physical, material 3D world, simply that I keep a safe distance from it.\u00a0 No matter what is going on around me, every 12 hours I take time to sit and re-connect with that deep, peaceful place within me.\u00a0 I<em style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> have<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> a place of deep inner peace because I take daily time to cultivate it each time I sit to meditate.\u00a0 Meditation can be likened to the fog that you walk in and then are surprised to arrive home soaking wet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Each time you sit to meditate builds upon the last time.\u00a0 Each time you relax into it a little more.\u00a0 Each time you become a little more receptive.\u00a0 You know you&#8217;re making progress when you recognize that your initial boredom is simply a trick of your mind revolting against you, as it recognizes you taking away some of its power.\u00a0 The mind, left on its own, unfocused, will fire thoughts continually if you let it.\u00a0 That&#8217;s good.\u00a0 The job of the mind is to make observations about your environment, form opinions and judgments, and it&#8217;s good at all of that.<\/p>\n<p>It just needs a little discipline to become quiet at will and to focus when you direct it to, such as during your <a href=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/?p=3379\" target=\"_blank\">creative visualization practice<\/a>.\u00a0 Twice a day I remind myself that I am not my mind, but my mind is mine to use and direct.\u00a0 I&#8217;m the boss.\u00a0 So now when I find myself thinking I am bored when sitting for meditation, I remind myself that is just another thought.\u00a0 And I let it go and continue to sit and breathe.\u00a0 And another thought, and again I let it go, and continue to sit and breathe.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED POSTS:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/?p=3734\" target=\"_blank\">Preparing For Relaxation;
