{"id":4327,"date":"2009-08-17T12:24:36","date_gmt":"2009-08-17T17:24:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/?p=4327"},"modified":"2009-08-17T12:24:36","modified_gmt":"2009-08-17T17:24:36","slug":"1-ounce-of-pretzels-4-pounds-and-a-2-day-slump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/1-ounce-of-pretzels-4-pounds-and-a-2-day-slump\/","title":{"rendered":"1 Ounce of Pretzels = 4 Pounds and a 2 Day Slump"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_4328\" style=\"width: 118px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/pretzel-72.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4328\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4328\" title=\"pretzel-72\" src=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/pretzel-72.jpg\" alt=\"Looks innocent, huh?\" width=\"108\" height=\"101\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4328\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Looks innocent, huh?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I discovered something the other day that I forgot about snack type things.\u00a0 They contain sodium and make you retain water!\u00a0 The last time I ate anything like pretzels or chips or packaged cookies was like 5 or more years ago, so it&#8217;s easy for me to forget about what they do to the body.\u00a0 I&#8217;d picked up a one ounce bag of little pretzels and nibbled on them through the day.\u00a0 There were 120 of them in the bag.\u00a0 You know, those little half dollar size pretzels with big chunks of yummy salt.\u00a0 I was working away and thought, what a great idea pretzels are since they are low fat and easy to eat while I work.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t usually eat in the office.\u00a0 So I worked through lunch and dinner and didn&#8217;t feel hungry, although about 3:00pm I had the urge to make iced tea.\u00a0 Which I had not done for maybe a year.\u00a0 And I wanted lemon and sugar in it, which I haven&#8217;t done for several years.\u00a0 The snack made me thirsty and I guess the salt made me want sugar and the sweet made me want sour.\u00a0 Typically I simply drink water, but I made a big pot of iced raspberry tea and by midnight had drank all of it.\u00a0 A day later I got on the scale and weighed 4 pounds more.\u00a0 WTF?\u00a0 My weight has stayed within 2 pounds for the past 4 years.
