{"id":3522,"date":"2009-07-28T04:32:23","date_gmt":"2009-07-28T09:32:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/?p=3522"},"modified":"2020-01-06T17:01:58","modified_gmt":"2020-01-06T22:01:58","slug":"i-pray-for-my-advertisers-and-clients-twice-a-day-as-part-of-my-spiritual-practice-my-altar-and-healing-bench-techniques","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/i-pray-for-my-advertisers-and-clients-twice-a-day-as-part-of-my-spiritual-practice-my-altar-and-healing-bench-techniques\/","title":{"rendered":"I Pray For My Advertisers and Clients Twice A Day As Part Of My Spiritual Practice; My Altar and Healing Bench Techniques"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_39640\" style=\"width: 295px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/living-room-altar-1-07-721.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39640\" class=\"size-full wp-image-39640\" src=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/living-room-altar-1-07-721.jpg\" alt=\" Meditation area\" width=\"285\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/living-room-altar-1-07-721.jpg 285w, http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/living-room-altar-1-07-721-238x300.jpg 238w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 285px) 100vw, 285px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-39640\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Meditation area<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"size-full wp-image-15073\" title=\"living room altar 1-07 72\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">With the most recent\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Horizons Magazine<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">having gone to press, I go into my next stage of the process: bookkeeping and billing.\u00a0 I like every part of my job to be fun and meaningful, and the mundane jobs are no different.\u00a0 in fact, I know that no job is mundane unless I make it so.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t like to just send out a boring black and white bill with meter stamped postage.\u00a0 If my mission in life is to lighten things up, I think: <em>what kind of invoice might be fun to open?<\/em> So I selected as a mascot for the bills, a small fairy on a flower.\u00a0 I print them in color.\u00a0\u00a0 I always enclose a self addressed return envelope, then those envelopes go on the altar before they go into the mail.\u00a0 When I pick up my mail from the post office, the envelopes go onto the altar before they come in to the office.\u00a0 Blessings for everyone.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Using the altar is just one way I bless my clients and advertisers and basically everyone and everything that comes into my consciousness.\u00a0 When I am doing the billing or the subscription labels, I give a few moments attention as I see each name and say a prayer for each one. \u00a0I recognize the fact of our Oneness and essential unity with all things. \u00a0I bring to mind what I know about them, some have advertised for 22 years straight.\u00a0 I take a moment to feel my heart fill with gratitude for their support and friendship these many years.\u00a0 It just takes a moment and lets me feel I am connecting with a friend a couple of times a month, when in fact neither of us have time in person to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I&#8217;ve got a great altar and meditation area, and you can see it here in<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/photos-of-our-place-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Photos of Our Place<\/a>.<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0 I&#8217;ve also got a separate<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/photos-of-our-place-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Healing Bench<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">area where friends and clients send me photos and and emails about those they would like to pray for, and then a team and I pray the bench twice a day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the morning prayer bench session, I use a technique I discovered first in the<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Art-Spiritual-Healing-Joel-Goldsmith\/dp\/0062503642\/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Art of Spiritual Healing<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">by one of my all time favorite authors ever,<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joel_S._Goldsmith\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joel Goldsmith.<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the book, he describes that prayer is not asking for healing but becoming present to the Christ within, letting go of pre-conceived ideas and letting grace enter and complete the <em>process<\/em>. Only then will healing begin.\u00a0 I have found that to be true in my life and the lives of those I know.\u00a0 So for each person whose name is on our healing bench, I do not see them as dis-abled or dis-eased, rather I confine my <em>prayer<\/em> to this realization of God&#8217;s presence, or God&#8217;s grace within each one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the evening prayer bench session, we do the<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/?p=40058\">Ho&#8217;oponopono Process<\/a>. <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len was a psychologist at the Hawaii State Hospital who &#8211; without ever seeing a patient in person &#8211; cured a ward of criminally insane patients using the ancient\u00a0Huna technique of<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/?p=40058\">Ho&#8217;oponopono.\u00a0 <\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dr. Lew would study an inmate&#8217;s chart and then look within himself to see how he created that person&#8217;s illness. As he took responsibility, asked forgiveness and expressed gratitude, he improved himself and the patients improved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dr. Len never saw his patients. His agreement was he would have an office and he would review the patient files. While he looked at those files, he would work on himself. As he worked on himself, patients began to heal.\u00a0 Dr. Len says he\u00a0&#8220;was simply healing the part of me that created them.&#8221;\u00a0 Dr. Len explained that total responsibility for your life means that everything in your life is your responsibility, simply because it appears in your life.\u00a0 That, in a literal sense, your entire world is your creation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I have found that to the extent I believe that, to that extent does it work in my life.\u00a0 And I have no complaints about how it works in my life.\u00a0 I see the connection between me and everyone.\u00a0 If they are in my line of sight &#8211; even via tv or movies &#8211; I know why.\u00a0 If they come into my thoughts, I know why.\u00a0 And I recognize our kinship.\u00a0 And I recognize our inherent divinity, and I say I&#8217;m sorry and I ask forgiveness for whatever my part was in creating the situation, and I say thank you. Your name might be on the bench \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In fact, if you&#8217;d like to add your prayers every day, we welcome them.\u00a0 Simply go to the<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/photos-of-our-place-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Photo <\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">of the altar or the bench and pretend you are here with us, and you will be in spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Doing this practice every day &#8211; both prayer techniques &#8211; goes a long way in keeping my own personal baggage illuminated and shed.\u00a0 Of course, I began doing it with the idea that I was doing a big holy service to mankind, me secretly helping all those folks who needed it (more ego tripping).\u00a0 I soon realized that was Spirit&#8217;s way of tricking me into doing the process so I could work on myself, and for myself.\u00a0 Ya gotta love it.
