I learned so much and liked her immediately. Hate that dreadful photo of her on the website however …

I told her I usually manage stress well, and don’t have much of it — that I do daily meditation and yoga and I work out several times a week at the gym and at home. I also brought in my most recent blood test results so she knew what was going on inside my body. I told her I’m a lightweight with drugs and need to be coherent and clear minded. She prescribed .25 Xanax (Alprazolam) and said take one twice a day for anxiety and 2-3 at night to sleep. She ordered another set of labs, so I went right from her office to Wuesthoff Reference Labs which is where I go to get my bloodwork done — no doctor needed, just go in and tell them which tests you want and it’s very affordable.

It was noon the next day before I was able to pick up the prescription and take a dose and it did seem to calm the anxiety. Within 30 minutes I felt less of an urgency to return all the calls today, answer all the emails today. But 10 hours later I noticed my spidey sense also seems to be still asleep. Not good for the occupation! Hmmm, just say no to drugs — long term anyway. I took 2 before I went to bed and was awake 3 hours later, so no need to take them for sleep – no difference there. I’m aware, however, that I am under acute distress right now and it will pass soon enough. I’ll take them when anxiety hits.

WHAT I USUALLY USE WHEN I’M STRESSED
On a regular basis for stress I first go to doing deep breathing and some full body stretching, yoga and exercise — the treadmill is good for that. If I still need relief, I’ll look to St. John’s Wort, Rhodiola Rosea, Valerian Root (all standardized) as well as melatonin, the Bach Rescue Remedy and the Rescue Pastilles, Hyland’s homeopathic Calm’s Forte and I just discovered the homeopathic Ignatia Amara. I buy everything online at Vitacost where it’s cheap.

L-Theanine is a unique amino acid found almost exclusively in the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) and is the primary ingredient contributing to the unusual taste of green tea. Animal studies have shown that L-theanine crosses the blood brain barrier, increases dopamine and GABA levels in the brain, and inhibits the stimulatory properties of caffeine. Human studies have shown that taking L-theanine results in the emission of brain waves associated with a state of relaxation.

I use lavendar oil on the soles of my feet and at the pressure points, and drink Sleepytime, Kava and Chamomile teas. An Rx is last resort and temporary. For everyone who knows me and reads my blog, you know I am a decades long firm believer in herbal supplements, meditation, yoga, EFT, and other modalities for stress relief. This is my first Rx in decades and it’s for acute stress and and I make no apologies for taking it. Whatever it takes, let the healing begin.

RELATED:
.25 Xanax (Alprazolam) update
The stress is easing up
Home Remedies for Anxiety
Homeopathic Anxiety Relief
L-theanine Unique Anxiety Relief
Holy Basil Extract for stress reduction and depression

I wrote this week that after having some acute anxiety, I for the first time in years made a medical appointment. I wrote at the end of How Timely: Another Mother of a Shakti Crash that I attribute the anxiety of the shakti crash I am experiencing now to a few incidents last week where I was […]

[1

post-18106","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
