{"id":16709,"date":"2011-09-21T10:15:58","date_gmt":"2011-09-21T14:15:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/?p=16709"},"modified":"2011-09-21T10:42:26","modified_gmt":"2011-09-21T14:42:26","slug":"the-new-facebook-design-lets-us-work-our-brains-and-keep-neurons-firing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/the-new-facebook-design-lets-us-work-our-brains-and-keep-neurons-firing\/","title":{"rendered":"The new Facebook design lets us work our brains and keep our neurons firing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To everyone who&#8217;s sent me a message on Facebook the last year and didn&#8217;t get an answer, I just found all those messages. \u00a0 How nice that Facebook lets me archive them for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Big_Brother_(Nineteen_Eighty-Four)\" target=\"_blank\">Big Brother<\/a> rather than delete all the nonsense spam people I don&#8217;t know fill my box with so I can&#8217;t see messages from friends. \u00a0Hopefully friends know if they are ignored, it&#8217;s simply I don&#8217;t have time to wade thru the spam to uncover valid messges from people I actually know. \u00a0And all the dudes I don&#8217;t know who act like Facebook is a dating service? \u00a0Come on guys, annoying!<\/p>\n<p>The new design looks fine to me, different but easy enought to navigate once I took a moment to figure it out. \u00a0I seldom use the message feature since so many people, even ones not friends, send stuff there and it hides my real friends messages. \u00a0I have over 3000 friends. \u00a0I get like 20 a day spam messages and I just don&#8217;t look at it anymore. \u00a0Now it seems I cannot send a Facebook message to someone unless I have my chat feature open and then it is a chat message to them. I stay offline just to not have nonsense sent there.
