{"id":10122,"date":"2010-08-20T03:09:57","date_gmt":"2010-08-20T08:09:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/?p=10122"},"modified":"2021-11-27T10:15:53","modified_gmt":"2021-11-27T15:15:53","slug":"why-i-like-facebook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/horizonsmagazine.com\/blog\/why-i-like-facebook\/","title":{"rendered":"Why I like Facebook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I love search engines.\u00a0 If a thought comes to me that I want to know more about, I<a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Google it.<\/a> A movie coming on that I want to know more about?\u00a0 I Google it.\u00a0 When someone on Facebook posts an interesting quote, I Google the author&#8217;s name and see what else they&#8217;ve written that might interest me.\u00a0 I love to research and learn, and Facebook lets me keep up with whatever my friends are interested in.\u00a0 Facebook, that&#8217;s another reason I spend more time on the computer.\u00a0 Since 2008, Facebook has been my social life and that&#8217;s one reason I spend so much time on it.\u00a0 I can take a few moments here and there during my work day, to pop in and say hi and see what my Facebook friends are doing.\u00a0 Several dozen are my real life friends who live locally, and if I had more free time, I&#8217;d hang out with them in person.\u00a0 Facebook helps me feel connected even when my schedule doesn&#8217;t allow me to attend many events.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A friend who teaches a Facebook 101 class posted &#8220;<em>Facebook is hard to research because I keep getting distracted by Facebook<\/em>.&#8221;\u00a0 I commented, &#8221; It&#8217;s perfect for people who think their life is boring or who isolate from others in that social phobia we all think we&#8217;re the only ones with.
