OCTOBER 1999
Well, we've sure gotten through some big storms this season, huh?
Do you think we're just lucky, or do you think the combined thought power of
Florida's lightworkers helped cocoon us in safety? In between power bleeps
during Hurricane Floyd's passage, I went on the internet and received dozens
of emails from friends and well wishers affirming that we'd make it through the
storm just fine. Some wanted to direct the hurricane elsewhere, and others wanted to dissipate it, but my favorites were the ones who were willing to allow the storm to go its merry way, knowing that our wellbeing was assured no matter what. Now that's what I call working from the higher perspective: staying focused on wellbeing, rather than trying to push away a problem; staying aware of the power of our mind to co-create our reality, and not getting wrapped up in the fearful agendas of anyone else around us.
I hafta admit that I let myself be talked into 2 days of boarding up windows, rearranging furniture and prematurely collecting my father in law from his manufactured home nearby, just in case. In fact, as I sit here now, on my favorite chair in my bedroom with my laptop computer on my knees, it's 4:15am on Sept 15 and Hurricane Floyd is dancing about 100 miles offshore on his way north. All 3 cats are being kept inside, so I know they're safe. The power flickers and dims every so often, so I'm thankful for my battery backups. I've learned that I work well under pressure and am fairly well prepared, having lots of water bottled up, a full gas tank, and keeping a few sheets of plywood on hand. I know a storm has to run its course and I think we can help a storm run its course in a way that's harmonious to us, if we stay mindful of our power in the Moment.
Our personal storms are like that also. We can either feed them with hasty actions and reactions based on the vibrational stance of those around us, or we can keep them at bay by being mindful and following our own guidance system, no matter what is happening around us.
While preparing for Hurricane Floyd, after hearing my best friend repeatedly remark that we could easily lose our roofs in the winds they were predicting for us - I gave a little thought to what I'd like to prepave in the event of a real emergency like that. No matter what scenario I'd envision, I just couldn't work up any real fear that I'd be in danger. I figured that if something like that happened, I'll make a basic plan to follow - like keeping my sleeping bag in the bathtub with a mattress nearby to pull over my head - and pray on it and trust that I'll be guided in the moment to do whatever needs to be done. I really believe that if we find ourselves in danger or conflict, in the moment that we ask for guidance and resolution, an answer will come and a path will be made available to us.
I tried to think of what it'd be like if it was 'the end." I've done a lot of out of body exercises for the past dozen years, so it's pretty easy for me to envision my existence apart from my physical body. I think that when we die, we're just one moment here and in the next moment we blink ourselves into another existence, kind of like going to sleep in our bed and later waking up in a freer arena where travel and creation happen at the speed of thought. That's what I believe meditation helps prepare us for. The more I practice separating my consciousness from my physical body, the less fear of "dying" I have. The less fear of dying I have, the more I see things from the higher perspective and the more I recognize how powerful we really are as human beings.
So once again the power of uplifted thought and joyful expectation has helped us ride out what was predicted to be a dangerous hurricane season. Once again we've passed unscathed through a time predicted to have devastating earth changes for Florida. I feel blessed to live through these wonderful times and feel it can only get better as time goes on. I have much hope for the future and the daily occurrences just bolster my faith that everything is in Divine order.
